| we actually use a special type of insulating tape wrapped around it, a layer of standard electrical tape wrapping the opposite direction and overlapping it a bit, followed by a coat of insulating varnish that we apply over it all. We do it on all our antennas on the mast to prevent them from weathering at the connections to the feed wires.
